Pro Poker Player Blogs

Did you ever wonder what the leading lights of the poker world do between live championship events and spending hours in front of a computer screen? They write. They blog. They tweet. If poker players were half as liberal with their chips as they are with their words, we would all be very wealthy indeed.

Daniel Negreanu – well known Tweeter and less accomplished golfer – is dedicating his time prior to the WSOP attempting “Operation 80” – a concentrated effort to complete the 18 holes on his local golf course in Toronto in less than 80 shots. As well as developing his passion for golf (and Tweeting about golf), he has also found the time to write incredibly long blogs about the golf, the recent SCOOP series on PokerStars and the new “Big Game” poker series. You can follow his blog here.

Party Poker and World Poker Tour front-man – Dave Sexton – has a written a book entitled “9 Secrets to Winning Poker”, which is more of a 24 page pdf file available from, but which makes interesting reading if you are on a particularly slow table. Sexton also blogs frequently on behalf of opponents to UIGEA, is a columnist for Poker Daily News and will be blogging daily for the Party Poker web site on the action and news surrounding the 2010 WSOP..

Phil Hellmuth has for a long time had his own poker clothing company, and is a regular user of social media to advise his fans of what they can buy from his shop! He has also done a series of TV programs recently and contributed to several poker blogs. Hellmuth´s latest contribution to the literary world is included on his clothing web site and entitled “Hand of the Week”. Here he selects a hand that has been played live or on the net, discusses the build up to the hand and analyses it – suggesting possible alternative outcomes. You can subscribe to Hellmuth´s “Hand of the Week” through this link.

Finally, Annette Obrestad has had a busy time of it recently. She was playing at the WPT in Las Vegas whilst promoting her attempt to get into the WSOP Champions Event, before flying back to Europe to play in the EPT Monte Carlo Main Event and then back to Las Vegas to sort out a suitable apartment for her stay during WSOP. Now back in Norway, she found time to enter the SCOOP events on PokerStars (Whoops! Hasn´t she just signed for FTL?) and write her first blog for her new web site

You can play with these stars and comment on their literary merits at the following sites:-
Daniel Negreanu – PokerStars
Dave Sexton – Party Poker
Phil Hellmuth – Ultimate Bet
Annette Obrestad – Full Tilt Poker
